All Denim All Day

Sometimes the simplest outfits are the best. My style has evolved into something quite minimalistic. Some say style isn't about comfort, but I'm with Coco: overdoing it often looks forced. I like dressing in a way that puts me at ease, especially in the Summer Months when Toronto gets sticky and humid.

I'm a big fan of the Canadian Tuxedo -- all denim everything. Denim is a staple in my wardrobe. The shirt is an oldie from Mendocino and is in a boyfriend fit, as are the jeans from The Gap. Together they make for easy, on-trend look that's still casual, and it's is elevated by simple, minimalist accessories like this white fringed bag from Marshalls, and these slingback mules also from Marshalls.

Casual Fridays in Athleisure

My style has gone sporty, and I love it. I may not work out, but I can at least look like I do, right? Thanks Athleisure.



I picked up these amazing leggings at the Marshalls at Dufferin Mall. That Marshalls is just not so picked over, especially compared to the one on Queen and John. My white converse are perhaps, not in mint condition, but that well-worn and well-loved look suites them, I think.

Trend Report - Periwinkle, the Colour of S/S 15

I love how my M for Mendocino Stylist prepped my fitting room

I started my Spring shopping yesterday. I know we'll probably have at least another month of snow but I figure that if I shop for Spring, it'll come faster, right? I had a great time looking through the new arrivals at my local M for Mendocino and picked up a few key items including a mock-neck nautical dress and a great Vera Moda jacket. But what I really need to add to my wardrobe is periwinkle. My color for Spring/Summer '15 will be periwinkle. It's light, refreshing and flirty. And unfortunately I don't have anything of that colour in my wardrobe.

Keeping it Cool with a Scandinavian Summer - OOTD

Zara toque, coat by Calvin Klein, turtleneck by Pull & Bear

I was beginning to feel like my winter wardrobe needing a helping hand getting out of the dark colors of the season. I mentioned in a previous look ("Ice Queen" which was in collaboration with The Noteworthys) that I'm getting over my winter blues with just that - shades of blue.

Oxblood has really dominated the Fall/Winter scene for the past few years, but now it's time to let bolder and brighter colors shine. Splashes of color seen here with the pastel blue toque by Zara and printed pants by H&M uplift a winter wardrobe and create a bold (but still warm!) look. Keep the look simple but classic, letting the colors act as accessories. Seen here the Pull & Bear black turtleneck and grey coat by Calvin Klein create a canvas for my chosen shades of blue.

Ice Queen - In Collaboration with The Noteworthys

I love pastel blue for winter - it's a great deviation from the standard deep reds of the season. It's a refreshing color choice... and I feel a little bit like Queen Elsa. I had a great time shooting this look with The Noteworthys, a Toronto-based network which connects clientele to designers.

A #DecadeofGlamour with Marciano

The lovely girls of Lotus Leaf and Marciano were kind enough to extend an invite to Marciano's 10th anniversary celebration. A #DecadeofGlamour was hosted by Fashion Magazine and Jenny Javonovic of Crazy Style Love. I've always been a fan of Marciano's bold use of color, and trendy statement pieces. And given the overwhelming turnout for the event I can safely say I'm not alone.



The whole store as a awash in glitz and glamour, from the crisply dressed waiters serving Barefoot wine, to the dolled up store associates in their sleek Marciano outfits.



I got a first hand look at the new Marciano. The store manager explained to me that Marciano is embarking on a brand new marketing strategy, literally knocking down the divide between Guess and Marciano to create a new seamless shopping experience that cross-promotes each brand. While I consider myself a Marciano girl, the combining of the two stores opened up a whole world of awesome denim I never before considered.



The Marciano side of the store offered guests a makeover courtesy of Winks Eyelash Boutique, while on the other side, Guess was buzzing thanks to the DJ, and a fun pop-up photo-booth stocked with fake moustaches and boas. I even ran into fellow blogger-in-arms, Awesome Jenn Jenn.



I tried with all my might to be objective and not give in to the beautiful new arrivals on display. Marciano is so tailored to my fashion style. Dramatic, bold and riddled with vintage touches. From shoes, to accessories, to clothing everything caught my eye.



Ultimately, my efforts were all in vain. I fell in love with a killer floor-length red gown with a plunging neckline and happily surrendered my credit card.

I received a special gift with my purchase and was overwhelmed by Marciano's generosity.



I loved the bangles but they are just too big for my arms. I absolutely love the John Freida Frizz Eaze Nourishing Oil Elixir. I use it every day and my hair has never looked better. The "Wear Me/Wash Me" laundry traveller is super cute and it will definitely come with my on my next trip. It's kind of ingenious.

A #DecadeofGlamour was a roaring success. Not only was it a beautiful celebration of 10 years of fantastic fashion, but it introduced a sure-to-be successful new store idea. The combining of Marciano and Guess will introduce customers to the sister brand they may not be familiar with and inspire fashionistas everywhere.

In Collaboration with The Noteworthys Part II - A Night on the Town

I've met so many admirable people this year, among the lot is Nundini Krishan founder of the up-and-coming "The Noteworthys". The Noteworthys is a Toronto-based network which connects clientele to designers.



I'm particularly excited about their project and you can stay in the loop by signing up early here.

I was asked to take part in their very first photoshoot where I got to bring a little of my own personal brand to the scene. In this, part II of my collaboration, I wanted to showcase a feminine look perfect for an evening of cocktails.



This look challenges a conservative color-palette by using surprising textures. The black turtle neck which I found tucked away in the heart of Chinatown has a modest cut, but it's the intricate lace detailing that surprises and delights with hints of skin. It definitely isn't meant for the faint-of-heart and could be easily paired with either a nude or black cami for a more subtle look. The skirt I've chosen to pair this lace number with is from H&M and is made of sweater-material. It's a short fluted skirt which gives the outfit a hint of volume without going overboard.

I didn't want to draw away from the neckline of the shirt, or the detailed lace and so complimented this look with a sleek jeweled headpiece with matching earrings. The sunglasses found in Kensington Market at Bungalow create a little bit of edge to an otherwise feminine look with the dramatic frames. The shoes (unseen) were my favourite silver stilettos from Aldo and I finished this outfit with a mixed metallic clutch and a dark shade of red lipstick bringing in just a suggestion of color.  (You can see them here in my look from World MasterCard Fashion Week).

Fall in love with Autumn

Fall has been busy for me. Work has been intense with Christmas around the corner, and I want to spend every minute of this beautiful season with friends and family. See the season through my lens.

My boyfriend, Ajay is Indian and together with our friends celebrated the beautiful Hindu festival of Diwali. As you might be able to tell from the last photo it was absolute carnage and I'm still full.
